Job Description – Biogas/Wastewater Mechanical Designer / Drafter


Job Title:                            Biogas/Wastewater Mechanical Designer / Drafter

Location:                           Appleton, WI



Job Summary:

This position is part of a team of Process and Technology Engineers supporting 3D model, 2D design related to the Project delivery of complex Dynamic Biogas, RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) sites, and products. The position will also support and coordinate knowledge transfer of Dynamic products primarily sold in the North American market.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce engineering drawings utilizing Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.

  • Communicate with the Engineering team to establish technical requirements and provide technical explanations of Biogas, RNG product designs.

  • Interact with the management, engineering, vendors, and manufacturing functions to coordinate customer requirements.

  • Identify, design, and implement process improvement changes to enhance quality and improve the productivity of manufacturing.

  • Understand national and local codes, classified areas, groups, and divisions.



Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Competence in Revit and 2D AutoCAD to be able to produce Project design, P&IDs, and drawings with dimensions and tolerances.

  • Good understanding of drafting and geometric dimensional tolerancing.

  • Good mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to use a variety of software applications (MS Office, ERP)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Articulate, well organized, and self-motivated.

  • Provide process and technology design support to proposal/project teams in the planning, designing, projects related to Dynamic Anaerobic Digestion, Power to Gas, Waste Fuel Boilers, Flue Gas Treatment, etc. products.

  • Create 3D Models in (Revit), piping, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) in 2D, and projects by developing process specifications, process descriptions, process design criteria, and process flow diagrams, etc.



Certificates and Licenses:


  • 2-year Technical Degree, AAS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technologies, or equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license

The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.  The employee will be required to traverse stairs. 


Work Environment:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily exposed to an office environment.  While on project sites, the employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions in all seasons.  The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high/precarious places, around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, in extreme cold, in extreme heat, animal manure, food waste products, biogas, confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, truck, and equipment traffic.




This will be a salary-based position paid bi-weekly, with annual compensation of $TBD.  In addition to the base salary, employees have the option to participate in a retirement savings program.  A health insurance program is also offered to all applicants.
